Rodney F. Johnson

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Rodney F. Johnson was born Jan. 21, 1937, in Bessemer, Mich., to his parents Gen Stanlake and Clarence Johnson.

Rod passed away Oct. 14, 2019.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and, after his time in the service, he moved to Chicago, where he met his wife, Joy. He worked for CW Transport until they closed their doors.

Rod then retired and moved to Ironwood, Mich. He and his wife lived there for many years. He joined the American Legion and drove the DAV van to the veterans hospital in Iron Mountain regularly. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and casino trips, along with Green Bay Packers and Detroit Tigers games.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Syd Rajkovich.

Rod is survived by his wife, Joy; son, Brian; daughter-in-law, Stevie; grandson, Maxwell; stepgrandson, Kevin; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
