IRONWOOD, Mich. - Mike Kopnick, 55, of Ironwood, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at home, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
Mike was born on Oct. 9, 1964, in Waukegan, Ill. He attended Medical Lake High School in Medical Lake, Wash., and graduated in 1983.
On May 23, 2003, Mike was united in marriage to Melissa K. Welch in Bessemer.
He was the service manager at Red's Auto Service in Ironwood.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Melissa; a son, Michael J. Kopnick; two stepdaughters, Tricia Cheevers and Bobbi Hodgson-Jeffers; his father, Frank (Jackie) Kopnick; three brothers, James (Karen) Kopnick, Nelson (Teresa) Morris and Guy (Amanda Higgins) Morris; a stepsister, Missy (Gene) Harju; his mother-in-law, Mary Kay Welch; his father-in-law, Gary (Karen) Welch; several nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and countless friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Carmen Morris, on Oct. 3, 2019; and his grandparents, Achillies and Jeanne Munari.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Aurora Athletic Club, 101 Penokee Road in Ironwood.
