RHINELANDER, Wis. - Edward Caron, 94, of Rhinelander, passed away peacefully with family on Nov. 3, 2019.
Edward was born in Watersmeet, Mich., on July 21, 1925. He was the son of Albert and Mathilda (Hill) Caron and a graduate of Watersmeet High School with the Class of 1943.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was deployed to the South Pacific during World War II. Upon returning from the war, he began his career as a brakeman with the Chicago North Western Railroad. Followed by 33 years with North Central-Republic Airlines, he retired in 1988 as a customer service representative/station manager.
After retirement, he was regularly seen working as a starter and course marshal at Northwood Golf course. In addition, he spent 10 years in public service as an elected Oneida County supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, whom he was married to for 54 years, Carolyn (Skinner); and four children, Barbara (Bill) Thomas, Edward (Lourdes) Caron, Brian (Johanna) Caron, and Todd (Kelly) Caron. Edward leaves behind one surviving brother, Francis (Benigh) Caron. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will be holding a private service and celebration of life.
