IRONWOOD, Mich. - Herman Roy Stone, 71, of Ironwood, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Herman was born on Oct. 5, 1948, in Washington, D.C., a son of Robert Herman and Mary Katherine (Lauzon) Stone.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and spent most of his working career at White Pine Copper Mine.
Herman is survived by two sons, Nathan (Barbi), Ironwood, and Joseph (Holly), Elgin, Ill .; four cherished grandchildren, Breonna (Spencer Shull), Ferndale, Wash., Hunter, Elgin, and Nathan Jr. and Hannah, both of Ironwood; two dear step-granddaughters, Jazmine and Lexi Traczyk, both of Ironwood; two brothers, Robert (Jean) and Raymond, both of Colorado Springs, Colo .; several special nieces and nephews; his lifelong friends and fishing and hunting buddies, Tommy Wiita, Bob Maki and Brian Maki; and friend, caregiver and mother of his sons, Dianne Alexandroni.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his wife, Terri Snarski, in 2012.
A celebration of Herman's life will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at Manny's Restaurant, 316 E. Houk St., in Ironwood, with Chaplain Matt Agee officiating.
Following the service, full military honors will be accorded by the Ironwood American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard, and assisted by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honors Team.
Luncheon will be served following the military rites.
Interment will take place at Hurley Cemetery in the spring.
