Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
HURLEY — Registration is currently open for those interested in participating in this year’s Sisu Endurance Team cross-country ski program, with a free try-it-out day Sunday for those considering joining the team.
The try-it-out day is scheduled from 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday at ABR Ski Trails in Erwin Township.
The program has been extended to kindergarteners and first graders this year, according to a team spokesperson, meaning kids K-12 can join the team. It is open to students in both Gogebic and Iron counties.
“This is a great opportunity for area youth who may be interested in (cross-country) skiing but don’t have equipment to use,” the spokesperson said. “It also allows youth to explore other great trail systems in our area, such as MECCA, Uller and Montreal Historical Ski Trails.”
The team will meet Sundays between Jan. 19 and March 1 at ABR. All skill levels are welcome to participate in the seven-week program.
New this year, intermediate skiers are also welcome to participate in the team’s Wolverine Wednesdays at the Wolverine Nordic Ski Trails in Ironwood Township Jan. 22-Feb. 25.
