MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Melvin James Davey Sr., 77, of Memphis, passed away Jan. 4, 2020.
Davey graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1960 and joined the U.S. Navy in 1961 and retired in 1981. He also retired from State Tech and FedEx.
He was a member of the Millington Lodge 671 F. & A.M. which he was looking forward to receiving his 50-year membership pin this year; a 32' Master Mason with membership in the Memphis Scottish Rite and a member of the Al Chymia Temple Shrine.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn and John; and sisters, Judi Ecklund and Lori Stark.
He is survived by his wife of 55-plus years, Darlene Marjo Woods, who he affectionately referred to as his "Honey Ko;" daughter, Dawn Davey of Drummonds, Tenn.; sons, Melvin J. (Martha) Davey of Adamsville, Tenn., and Edwin D. Davey of Oakland, Tenn.; sisters, June Greer of Memphis, and Ruth Coogan of Madison, Tenn.; brothers, Timothy Davey of West Allis, Wis. and Bill Davey of Milwaukee; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Jan. 7, from 5 p.m. until the service at 7 p.m. at the Millington Chapel.
