Solid Waste board approves officers

Ironwood Township — The Gogebic Range Solid Waste Management Authority decided to keep its board leadership in place at its meeting Thursday.

The Authority’s board approved keeping the chair, vice-chair and secretary-treasurer positions held by the same members for 2020.

Jeff Randall will remain chair. He is the Bessemer Township representative.

Mandy Lake will remain as vice chair. She represents Wakefield Township.

Marlene Saari, representing Ironwood Township, will remain as secretary-treasurer.

The remainder of the board membership includes Richard Bouvette, of Marenisco Township; James A. Anderson, for the city of Wakefield, and Linda Nelson, of the city of Bessemer, who was not present for the meeting.

In other business regarding annual renewals, the authority approved retaining O’Dea, Nordeen & Burink, P.C. as legal counsel. The authority approved administrator discretion with depository accounts that are currently with First National Bank and Gogebic Range Bank.

The authority approved the Daily Globe Publishing and Wakefield News-Bessmer Pick & Axe as the official newspapers of record. The authority also approved maintaining the regular meeting schedule for 4:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month to be held in the administration building at the Transfer Station in Ironwood.

Chris Bressette, authority administrator, said the December 2019 tonnage report was 398.51 tons. This is an average figure for December, she said.

In other business, the authority approved:

—An $848 printer/copier purchase with a monthly service contract.

—$36,007 in billing and claims.

—Accepting the audit report.
