WAKEFIELD, Mich. - James M. Stratman, 70, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at his home.
James was born on April 9, 1949, in Bessemer Township, the son of William F. and Margaret E. (Bolen) Stratman. He attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1967.
James worked as a saw filer at Connor Lumber for 30 years and concluded his working career at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility in maintenance.
In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing.
James truly loved and cared for his family.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Gail; two sons, Tim (Lisa), Bessemer, and Joe (Jessica), Ironwood; five cherished grandchildren, Alyssa, Mason, Lily, Serena and Jereme; a sister, Mary Beth (Robert) DaPra, Wakefield; his mother-in-law, Anne Sain, Ramsay; a lifelong friend, Roger Zazeski, Ironwood; and other loving relatives.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his father-in-law, Richard L. "Moon" Sain.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church, 1202 Putnam Blvd., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Bill Jacobson officiating.
A committal service and interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield, in the spring.
Luncheon will be served at the church fellowship hall following the service.
