BRUCE CROSSING, Mich. — Anthony C. Meranda, of Bruce Crossing, passed on Feb. 8, 2020, at the age of 64.
He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on Jan. 18, 1956, in Brighton on Clark Lake in lower Michigan near Ann Arbor. He went to school in Howell and went to college at Washtenaw Community College in Ypsilanti.
Anthony worked for the Howell Schools for 25 years as a custodian/maintenance person. He moved to the Upper Peninsula in 1996 and got a job at Frontier Builders in Land O’ Lakes, building log homes. This was a dream job of his, to learn how to build his own home some day. After that, he worked for Randy Hall of Land O’ Lakes, building log structures for about three years.
He then worked for Modern Case, building guitar cases, including the hard cases, for about a year. He got a job at Big Valley Ford in Ewen, as a lube tech and a maintenance person. He worked there for about 10 years and then retired in March 2017.
Anthony loved music, playing baseball and hockey, fishing, playing horseshoes, hiking, water skiing, snowmobiling and martial arts. His hobby’s were making wood carvings, and growing a garden. He liked to grow all types of vegetables with his favorites being tomatoes and cucumbers. Growing pumpkins to see how big he could grow them was also an enjoyable hobby for him.
Anthony is survived by Linda Wonsey, a friend; sister, Carla (Darwin) of Reed City; brother, Mark (Lynn) of Allenton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Elnora (Schall) and John Bodnar.
There will be a memorial service at a later date.
