Iron County snowmobile crash victim identified

Hurley — The name of the victim in Sunday’s snowmobile crash in Iron County was released Tuesday.

Ryan T. Kramarsic, 40, of Granville, Illinois, was killed in a snowmobile crash in Iron County Sunday night.

Iron County Emergency Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 12:53 a.m., according to Iron County Sheriff Paul Samardich, reporting the crash on Trail 10 in the town of Mercer.

At the time, Kramarsic was reportedly unresponsive.

Emergency personnel on scene attempted life saving measures but were unsuccessful and Iron County Coroner Diane Simonich pronounced Kramarsic dead at the scene.

Sunday’s crash was one of three fatal snowmobile crashes in the state this weekend, according to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, with two others happening in Vilas County.

Richard J. Hetsley, 38, of Maple Park, Illinois, was killed when his snowmobile hit a tree near the shoreline on Little St. Germain Lake in the town of St. Germain at roughly 4 a.m. Saturday, according to the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office. Justin W. Anderson, 27, of Belvidere, Illinois, was killed in the town of Plum Lake at roughly 9 a.m. Saturday, according to the VCSO.
