Ironwood — The members of Ironwood Masonic Lodge No. 389 are inviting the community to show off their snowman-making skills next week.
The lodge is sponsoring a build a snowman contest as part of the city’s monthly First Friday activities March 6.
“It’s just so the kids can get out and have some fun,” said Jeff Nielsen, who currently leads the lodge.
The event is scheduled to take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ironwood’s Depot Park, according to organizers and is open to anyone under the age of 15.
Although its called a snowman contest, Nielsen said that any type of snow sculpture can be built as an entry. To join the competition, participants simply have to show up to the park, register and begin making their creations.
Those interested in competing are welcome to use any props or spray colorings they want.
Along with the contest, organizers plan to offer various other games in the park too.
There are cash prizes planned for the top four places in the contest, and organizers thanked the various local businesses who contributed to make the event possible.
Anyone with questions can call 906-285-1673 and ask for Jeff.
