IRONWOOD, Mich. - Clifford "Chip" Muhonen, 88, of Ramsay, passed away on Feb. 29, 2020.
He was born May 5, 1931, in Ironwood, son of John and Helmi (Pasanen) Muhonen. He attended local schools and Gogebic Community College.
Clifford worked at the Bessemer Creamery, Bessemer Plywood and retired from the White Pine Copper Mine. He was also a member of the Bessemer Township Volunteer Fire Department and was a member and performed with Marty's Goldenaires for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helmi Muhonen; his wife of 37 years, Kathleen; daughter, Elaine Elias; sister, Helen Martin; and his long-time companion of over 12 years, Dotty Bodah.
Cliff is survived by three children, John (Catherine) Muhonen, Kathleen Muhonen and Jean Claus; son-in-law, Thomas Elias; four grandchildren, Deja (Travis) Elias, Tom (Rachel) Elias, Mason Muhonen and Marisa Muhonen; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in early summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bessemer Township Fire Department in Ramsay or the American Legion in Bessemer.
