GAYLORD, Mich. — Claudine J. Wasson, formerly of Watersmeet, Michigan, passed away Sunday March 22, 2020 at the Medilodge Nursing Facility in Gaylord. She was 91.
Claudine was born in Waucedah on July 6, 1928 to the parents of Herman and Vivian (Trudell) Hupp. She married Edward Wasson on Oct. 27, 1946 and resided in Watersmeet, working and raising a family. Claudine worked as a server at several local restaurants and, for many years, at the U.S. Forest Service’s James Toumey Nursery and Sylvania Property Information Center. After retiring, Claudine decided to return part time to work at Clem’s Café. She enjoyed meeting and visiting with all the customers.
Claudine was a member of the First Congregational Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. In her later years, she moved to Gaylord to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.
Surviving is her daughter, Marlene (Mark) Kersten of Gaylord; two grandchildren, Shannon (Jeff) Waller of Ada and Kristie (Brian) Kozlowski of Gaylord; four great-grandchildren, Alexis and Makayla Kozlowski of Gaylord, and Olivia and Brayden Waller of Ada; a sister, Lillian Yablonski of Crystal Falls, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Wasson; her son, William Wasson; two brothers, Milton Hupp and Walter Hupp; and four sisters, Alvina Wall, Lorraine Pantti, Rose Haluska, and Annabelle Dellies.
A burial ceremony will be held this summer in Watersmeet.
