Bessemer — A Bessemer man accused of a shooting in that city was arraigned via video in Gogebic County District Court Thursday afternoon.
Timothy James Wigman, 26, was arraigned on charges of felonious assault with intent to murder, possession of a short-barreled shotgun, possession of a dangerous weapon-metallic knuckles, possessing or discharging a weapon under the influence causing serious impairment and possessing a firearm while committing a felony.
Wigman faces a potential maximum sentence of life in prison for the assault charge, the most serious of the five felonies he is charged with.
Wigman allegedly shot Tyler Maki, 26, in the chest late Wednesday at Wigman’s Beecher Street residence in Bessemer, according to a release from the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department. Wigman was arrested without incident at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday.
Maki was transported by Beacon Ambulance to Aspirus Ironwood Hospital and treated for the gunshot wound, according to the release. He has since been released, an Aspirus spokeswoman said Friday.
Wigman remains in the Gogebic County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
The Michigan State Police also responded to the scene.
