Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
HURLEY — Starting on Saturday, the Hurley School District will offer free breakfast and free to all students 18-years-old and younger every Saturday and Sunday until canceled.
“We hope the families and especially the students enjoy the meals that are now prepared all seven days of the week to be delicious and something they look forward to each and every day,” said Kevin Genisot, school district administrator, in a letter to the school district on Saturday.
Families are asked to send a driver only to the north parking entrance door between 10:30 a.m. and noon.
The driver will signal to a school staff member the number of students they are picking up meals for that day.
Each student will receive two breakfasts and two lunches. This will require just one trip for the driver to pick up two days of meals for Saturday and Sunday. There will be no Sunday pickup service.
Weekday meal delivery options already in place will remain unchanged. The Saturday service is simply an additional option for parents on the weekend.
“The Hurley School District will continue to do everything possible to help students, families and the general community,” Genisot said. “Hurley School is a proud contributor to making our community healthier and stronger than ever before and we will continue to explore ways to help even more in the future.”
