Ironwood Township - The Gogebic County Sheriff's Department is looking for the public's help in identifying who is responsible for burning a bridge in Ironwood Township.
The sheriff's department received a call Saturday regarding a bridge over Sand Island Creek in Ironwood Township being burnt, according to a post on the department's Facebook page Sunday.
The small bridge, where Camp 6 grade crosses the creek, is accessible off County Road 519.
The exact date of the fire is unknown, according to the department's Facebook page, but is believed to have happened between June 20 and Saturday.
The bridge is in a relatively remote area of Ironwood Township, with the grade being a small two-track road in the area around the bridge.
"(That area) is frequented by four-wheelers and side-by-sides and hikers," Sheriff Pete Matonich said, adding anyone with information about the fire can contact the department or other local law enforcement department.
He said he couldn't speculate about what the motives for the fire might be.
