IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Carol E. Lahti, 81, of Ironwood Township, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020.
Carol was born on Jan. 10, 1939, in Bessemer Township, a daughter of Matt E. and Jennie M. (Wiitanen) Jarvi. She attended Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood and graduated in 1957.
On March 16, 1963, Carol was united in marriage to Kenneth G. Lahti at the Apostolic Lutheran Church on Sutherland Street, in Ironwood.
Carol worked as a housekeeper at Black River Lodge and worked at various other establishments in the community. Her pride and joy was helping her son, Kevin, with his home and lawn care business. Most of all, she was a devoted and dedicated mother to her two sons, Kenneth Mathew and Kevin Michael.
Carol enjoyed crafts, especially plastic canvas, and was a faithful member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church.
Carol is survived by a son, Kevin, Ironwood Township; a grandson, Kenneth Jr., New Ipswich, New Hampshire; her brother-in-law, Paul Harley, Wakefield; her lifelong friend, Margie M. Jimenez; and other loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth G., in 1970; her son, Kenneth M., in 2014; and two sisters, Arlove Wydetic and Kathleen Kinnunen.
At the family's request, cremation will take place.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 8, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at the Apostolic Lutheran Church, 326 W. Aurora St., Ironwood, with the Rev. Alan Estola officiating. Due to CDC guidelines, masks are recommended and social distancing will be observed.
Luncheon will be served at the church fellowship hall following the service.
Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.
