IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Robert S. Brown, 86, of Ironwood Township, passed away at his home on July 12, 2020, in Ironwood Township.
He was born on Dec. 22, 1933, in Ironwood. He attended Roosevelt School and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1952.
After graduation, Bob worked locally and then was called to serve in the U.S. Army in 1956 and was based at Fort Bliss, Texas. Upon his discharge, he moved to Milwaukee and worked at American Motors starting in 1959 until retirement in 1979. After retiring, he moved back to his family homestead in North Ironwood. He spent quite a few years working as a bartender at Hautala's Bar, and later decided to move to the other side to join all his friends, which were many.
Bob enjoyed watching all sports, particularly the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed bowling and belonged to leagues when he was still able to bowl. He also enjoyed a friendly game of cribbage and liked to gamble where he always seemed to win a good share.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Tyyne Mary Brown in 1956; brothers, Jacob, Roy, John, Reino, Elmer and Ronnie; sisters, Laina Hagstrom, Julia Korhonen and Martha Smith; and nieces and nephews, Bill, Mabel, Arlene, Kenneth, Francis and Greg.
Referred to as Uncle Bobby, Bob is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, namely Linda, Russell, Jimmy, Bobbi, Mary, Myrna, Madeline, Shirley, Jackie, Edwin, Patsy, Jim, Ray, Rhonda, Mona, Roy, Jim, Danny, Jack, Steve, Jill, John, and special niece and confidant, Phyllis.
Per Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place; and there will be no service. Inurnment will be at Sunset Acres Cemetery in Ironwood Township.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will have a celebration of life in honor of Uncle Bobby when it becomes safe to gather.
