IRONWOOD, Mich. - Charles L. Gossen, 75, of Ironwood, died unexpectedly Friday, July 17, 2020.
Charles was born on Nov. 25, 1944, in Ironwood. He was the son of Charles G. and Geraldine "Gerry" M. (Richards) Gossen.
Charles graduated from Michigan Technological University with a degree in biology. After graduating, he started working for Quaker Oats as a food chemist. He had several careers over his lifetime: small business owner, stained-glass artist, construction service and hotel manager.
Charles enjoyed a wide array of hobbies and interest: computers, movies, sailing, woodworking, cooking and gardening.
When he was younger, he enjoyed participating in many athletic events including running marathons and triathlons, road biking, as well as canoeing and kayaking. Charles had a firm rule regarding riding roller coasters, "front row, hands in the air and yell as loud as you can!"
Charles is survived by his daughter, Gerilyn Ahlers, son-in-law, Geoffrey Ahlers, and granddaughter, Talia Ahlers, all of Cincinnati.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rite of Committal and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood, on Thursday, July 23, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Binu Joseph, pastor of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, will officiate.
