GURNEY, Wis. - Charlotte (Youngs) Galarno, 84, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 20, 2020. She was born in Gurney, at her parents home on Sept. 4, 1935, the daughter of George and Edith Youngs.
On Dec. 9, 1950, she married Bill Galarno. Together they grew up and raised a family of eight children.
Charlotte is well known for her wit and great stories. She was always willing to offer her advice and a "prize" or two that she picked up at a secondhand store, as she enjoyed treasure hunting. All the kids and grandkids will never forget the sound or smell of bacon frying in the kitchen.
Charlotte was very proud of her family. One of her last words of advice to her grandchildren was to have more kids. She enjoyed sitting on the Gurney election board, turkey hunting with her husband, woodworking, playing slot machines with her daughters, bartending and shaking dice (Ship, Captain, Crew was her game of choice).
Charlotte is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Galarno; daughters, Vicky (Larry) Harris, Babe Soffiette, Debbie Galarno, Cindy (Rick) LaFortune and Denise (Jeff) Sprangers; sons, Randy (Diane) Galarno, Richard (Carri) Galarno and Bill (Barbi) Galarno; 24 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and even a few great-great-grandchildren.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, George and Edith Youngs; daughter, Billi Tauer; brother, Jim Youngs; sister, Cathy Burlo; and grandsons, Jody Soffiette, Nathan LaFortune and Jonathan Tauer.
Per Charlotte's wishes a private family gathering will be held.
