Ironwood — People in the Ironwood area will be able to be tested for COVID-19 Wednesday during a testing event at the Ironwood Public Safety Department.
The no-cost event is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to a flier, and is available to everyone. No pre-registration, insurance, prescription or doctor’s order is needed, the flier reads.
The event comes as the number of local cases linked to the coronavirus pandemic continues to rise.
The number of cases in Gogebic County rose to 112 positive cases and another seven probables as of Sunday, according to data on the state’s coronavirus website.
The state’s data showed Ontonagon County had 11 positives and one probable case, as of Sunday.
In Wisconsin, Iron County health officials reported 75 positive cases and 1,170 negative tests, as of Friday. Of those 75 cases, 68 are considered recovered. The seven non-residents who were in isolation in the county have also recovered and are no longer being monitored, according to a news release from the department.
Officials in both states continue to urge people to take steps to combat the spread of the virus — including wearing masks or face coverings, washing hands, practicing social distancing, and limiting travel and staying home as much as possible.
