IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Kristine A. Bennetts, 78, of Ironwood Township, died peacefully at home with her loving family by her side. Daughter of Ben and Loretta Phillips, Kristine was born April 9, 1942 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
She graduated from Ironwood High School, class of 1960, and went on to work odd jobs until she met the love of her life, a township boy, Jerry Bennetts. Jerry and Kris were married on Dec. 26, 1964 and made their home in Ironwood Township where they would go on to raise three wonderful children.
In later years, Kris and Jerry would travel to Arizona and spend winters in their fifth wheel. They were married for thirty six beautiful years before Jerry passed away unexpectedly in 2001. Kris was an Avon lady (for over 50 years), member of Salem Lutheran Church, and a frequent flyer at The Fabric Patch. Kris was "Granny" to both her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Michael Bennetts, of Ironwood, and Jodi (Russ Wille) Bennetts, of Edgerton, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Allison Bennetts, Brianna (Daniel) Haughom, and Chelsi Wille, of Williams Bay, Wisconsin; great-granddaughter, Avery Kimmerly; her pride and joy, great-grandson, Owen Haughom; sister, Virginia (Kenneth) Heczko; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kris was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Loretta Phillips; husband Jerry; son Brian; and best friend, Sally Kivisto.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Ironwood Township Airport Park Pavilion at 11 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Sunset Acres Cemetery, Ironwood Township, following the service.
