ONTONAGON, Mich. — Clarence W. Linna passed away on Sunday, Nov. 15, at Aspirus Long Term Care in Ontonagon at the age of 87.
Clarence was born in Bruce Crossing and lived there nearly all of his life. After graduating from Ewen High School, he married Alice Korri and they spent six years in Mt. Clemens, where he completed trade school to become a tool and die maker. They returned to Bruce’s in 1957 and he worked at White Pine Copper for the following 35 years until his retirement.
Clarence loved life; he was an avid sports fan from a young age playing baseball, hockey and in his later years he especially enjoyed golfing at Big Spruce. He enjoyed hunting and socializing with friends over the years.
Clarence cared for his community and was a member of Bruce Crossing Fire Department, serving as chief for several years.
Clarence’s greatest love was his family. He is survived by his wife, Alice, of 69 years; his children Connie Linna and Tim (Karla); his grandchildren, David (Kate), Jessi, Jason (Jess), Matt (Elise) and Ashley (Jason) Krummel; his great-grandchildren, Logan, Jaxon, Ava, Cooper, Leo, Kennedy and Weston; his sister, Marie (Joe) Fencil; and his sister-in-law, Julie Linna.
He was preceded in death by his sons, John and Brad; his grandson, Erik; his great-granddaughters, Angelina and Alexis; his parents, Walt and Aili Linna; and his brother, Marvin.
The family would like to thank the Aspirus Long Term Care staff for your exceptional care with Clarence, especially his girls who took care of him, we love you all.
Due to COVID-19, burial services and a celebration of his life are planned for spring 2021. Memorials are appreciated in Clarence’s name to the Ontonagon County Cancer Association.
