Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
MARQUETTE, Mich. - Keith Roehm went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2020, in Marquette. He was 94 years old.
Harold Keith Roehm was born in Ontonagon on Feb. 10, 1926, to Harold and Mabel (Johnson) Roehm. He was the oldest of four sons, Keith, John, Larry and Clarence. He attended Ontonagon Schools and graduated high school in 1944.
At the age of 18 years old he entered the U.S. Army and served for two years as a radio operator, stationed in France in World War II. Upon returning home he worked at Turner Construction (the paper mill). He spent his free time hunting and fishing with his brothers. He met Beverly Dembroski and married her in 1954. Together they had four children, Brian John, Cindy Sue, Lynda Jane and Pattie Jo.
He left the mill and went to work at the White Pine Copper Mine. There he maintained the water plant operator position for 30 years before retiring. He found his passion of golf after retirement and boy did he! Feared by many, loved by more, he had a consistent long game and a great short game! If you played against him, you knew your odds weren"t good.
Besides hunting and fishing and golfing, Keith bowled on league well into his 80s. He had several "camps" over his life, cherishing the times with those he loved, over a game of cribbage or a game of Aggravation. He will always be remembered for being the "nicest guy," and knew nearly everyone in town, with always a smile on his face and tall stories he was so good at telling. He took tremendous pride and pleasure being the biggest fan for his grandkids" and great-grandkids" sports games. He loved the Detroit Lions, Tigers and Pistons.
Keith is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beverly; his three children, Brian (Kelly) Roehm of Ontonagon, Cindy (Eric) Hollingsworth of Damascus, Oregon, and Pattie Roehm of Ontonagon; grandchildren; Christopher (Bethany) Roehm of Honolulu, Hawaii, Brian (Kerri) Roehm of Ironwood, Lori (Carl) Vandenburg of Ironwood, Eric (Rachelle) Hollingsworth of Milwaukie, Oregon, Shannon (Chris) Jagodka of St. Louis, and Ryan Huff of Ontonagon; great-grandchildren; Tristan (Lyric) Roehm, Hailee Roehm, Casen Roehm, Claire Roehm, Ethan Roehm, Olivia, Natalie and Oscar Vandenburg, Elijah and Sophie Hollingsworth; and our latest addition great-great-grandson, Liam Lord.
Keith is proceeded in death by both of his parents; his three brothers, John, Larry and Clarence; and his precious daughter, Lynda Jane.
We"d like to thank the Aspirus ER team for the care they provided for our Dad, especially Shelly. Your quick thinking, we believe, kept him with us for another day. God bless all of you.
