KENOSHA, Wis. - William John Barncard of Kenosha, Wisconsin, passed away at age 85 on Nov. 11, 2020.
Bill, born in Rhinelander, to Margaret (Hobbs) and John Barncard, was a loving husband of 58 years to Diane (Owsichek), a proud father to Karen (Jonathan Fox) and John (Jennifer Goergen), and a devoted grandfather to Torrie, McKenna, Madeline and Gianna. He was also the beloved brother of Doug, brother-in-law to Ann (Laidig) and fond uncle of Brian and Christopher.
Bill was raised in Mercer. After graduating from Mercer High School, he went on to serve in the United States Army and was stationed in Neckarsulm, Germany. Upon arriving back in the states, Bill met Diane at the Danish Beer Garden in Racine. They were married in Kenosha on Aug. 11, 1962. Bill worked for the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company for many years, retiring in 1997. Post-retirement he worked part time for Southport Transportation.
Some of his most cherished time was spent driving Torrie and McKenna to their skating practices. He was the proudest grandpa in the stands when the girls took the ice, Torrie in figure skating and McKenna in Hockey. As a dedicated woodworker, he created gifts and gadgets that he loved to share with friends and family. He was also an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed time hunting and fishing in Alaska and out West. He will be lovingly remembered for his wonderful stories and feisty sense of humor.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and John.
A burial and memorial will take place when it is safe to gather.
