HURLEY, Wis. — Marjorie Jane Smith, 94, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, at Villa Marie Health and Rehabilitation in Hurley.
Marjorie was born on July 16, 1926, in Ironwood, Michigan, to John and Anna (Mayercak) Kozak. She attended Norrie Elementary and Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood. She then moved to Detroit to work for the Ferry-Morse Seed Company. Marjorie moved to Los Angeles and worked as an insurance agent, and then was employed by Rolwell Company until her retirement.
Marjorie enjoyed reading, dancing, decorating and gambling.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; sisters, Marian DiGiorgio, and Amelia in her childhood; an infant brother; niece, Joye Sippola; and her nephew, Ray DiGiorgio.
She is survived by her niece, Maureen (Roy) Foryan of Hurley; her good friends and neighbors, Walter and Donna Rickard, Niles and Inga Sanders, and their son, Mike.
Due to COVID-19, a celebration of Marjorie’s life will be held at a future date at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.
