GREEN BAY, Wis. - Albin Hilding Anderson, 81, of Ewen, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Dec. 12, 2020, at his daughter's home, with his family by his side.
Albin, son of Hilding and Mattie (Peacock) Anderson, was born on July 19, 1939, in Watersmeet, Michigan. He married the love of his life, Ila May Mott, on Aug. 30, 1969.
Albin graduated from Bergland High School in 1957 and later earned an Associate Degree from Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Michigan. Albin served in the U.S. Air Force at Carswell AFB in Texas from 1960-1964. He was employed at Fisher Body, Soo Line Railroad, Michigan Department of Education Migrant Program and finally, Lac Vieux Desert (Northern Waters) Casino, which he said was his favorite job.
Albin enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, going to the casino and watching his grandchildren in sports.
He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Emil, Emmet, Robert, William and John; a sister, Marion; and a special niece, Deborah.
Albin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ila Anderson; a brother, Pix (Cathy) Anderson; a sister, Velma Gidcumb; and five children, Lisa (Gregg) Schneider, Arvid (Amy) Niemi, Brian (Kecia) Anderson, Diane (Greg) Brady and Carol Anderson (Bruce Lindsey). Also surviving are his pride and joy, his 13 grandchildren: Jonathan, Anthony, Jordan, Tyler, Devon, Tori, Tommy, Adeline, Alaine, Kaitlyn, Cody, Erik and Anna.
Albin's family is planning a celebration of life in the summer of 2021, when all family and friends will be able to gather outside in a responsible manner. Notification of date, time and location will be made by family through social media and-or by phone.
Albin will be missed and loved until "The Twelfth of Never," his favorite song by Johnny Mathis.
