Rose Barbara Zambrovitz

HURLEY, Wis. - Rose Barbara Zambrovitz, 95, of 304 Maple St. Hurley, passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, in Hurley.

Rose was born June. 4, 1925, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Charles and Rose Mary (Drazba) Zambrovitz.

Her early years of employment were dedicated to the Curry Hotel in Ironwood, Michigan, where she learned the skills of a chamber maid.

Later, Rose worked at the Bayfield Pure Air Sanitorium which opened in 1920 and ceased operation in 1975. This facility treated World War I veterans, Chippewa indians, and iron miners that were afflicted with tuberculosis. In 1981, it was added to the National Register of historical places.

Upon returning to the area, Rose worked at Josephson's Nursing Home in Ironwood as a nurses' aide.

Her last job of employment was the Community Action Center in Ironwood. Rose enjoyed keeping the center clean. She retired at age 70.

Aunt Rose enjoyed the company of her loved ones. She was a wonderful "Aunt" to four generations. Rose had a great appreciation for the simple things in life.

Our family would like to thank each person who assisted Rose during her later years. Your love, friendship, patience, kindness and care helped her reach 95 years. Thank you for dedicating your lives to helping others.

Thank you, Heavenly Father for the 95 years you gave our Aunt Rose. Rose now resides eternally with her Heavenly Father, the greatest gift of all!

Survivors include a nephew, Conrad Piazzi, of Sullivan; three nieces, Renee (Ron) Roscoe, of Bessemer, Michigan, Virginia Piazzi, of Phoenix, and Charlotte (John) Brouillard, of Las Vegas; grandniece, Nichole Christoferson; grandnephew, Christopher Koski; two great-grandnephews, Brenden and Landen Christoferson; two great-grandnieces, Kieira and Avery Koski; and one great-great-grandniece, Oaklynn Christoferson.

Besides her parents, Rose was preceded in death by five sisters, Josephine Zambrovitz, Dorothy Zambrovitz, Seviena (Ralph) Cobb, Helen (Ernest) Piazzi, and Gertrude (Bill) Crandall.

A private family service is being held in her honor.
