Lois Jean (Schrieber) Borth

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Lois Jean (Schrieber) Borth, 88, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 13, 2021. She passed away peacefully in Ironwood, at the home of her son, Daniel, with her family by her side. She was born Oct. 3, 1932, in Elgin, Illinois, to Wilfred and Frances (Gould) Schrieber.

After growing up in Elgin, she graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, in 1954. It was there that she met the love of her life, Richard Borth. They were married on Aug. 25, 1956 and recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

Lois served alongside her husband, Richard, as he pastored the Community Baptist Church, now Woodland Church, in Ironwood from 1974 to 1980.

Lois will be remembered by her family as a dedicated pastor's wife, mother and grandmother. She invested time in praying for her family and always planned special activities when the grandchildren came to visit. She was an organized, "no-nonsense," adventurous, hard worker and competitively played games and enjoyed making puzzles. She was purposeful in befriending and serving her neighbors and friends. She worked as a home health aide in Illinois and Nebraska where her husband served as a pastor. Her mind was always on heaven and she looked forward to eternity with Jesus.

She will be missed by Richard, her loving husband; her children, Deborah (Richard) Mach of Woodbury, Minnesota, Daniel (Jeannie) of Ironwood, Rebecca (Larry) James of Laramie, Wyoming, and Mark (Candace) of Normal, Illinois; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond (Lucille) Schrieber; sister, Mary Kendall; sisters-in-law, Carol Schrieber and Helga Schrieber; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Richard and James Schrieber.

Funeral services will be held at Calvary Church in Roseville, Minnesota, on Friday, Jan. 22, at 1 p.m. with visitation from noon to 1 p.m. Interment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery.
