IRON BELT, Wis. - Claire J. "Mia" Garro, 77 of Iron Belt, passed away at her home on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021.
Mia was born the daughter of John and Evelyn (Peterson) Garro on July 19, 1943, in Ironwood, Michigan. She received her bachelor's degree and was an elementary school teacher in Tomahawk.
When growing up she loved water skiing. Mia enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and game hunting. She took great pride in being a lector and helping in the Catholic churches in Saxon and Pence. Most of all Mia loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her brothers, Pete (Yvonne) Garro and Tony Garro; her many nieces and nephews; and her loving pets, Abraham and Sara.
Mia was preceded in death by her parents, John and Evelyn; her brother, John Lawrence Garro; and sisters-in-law, Gayle and Vicki.
A celebration of Mia's life will be held at a later date with inurnment to take place at Hillside Cemetery in Iron Belt. A notice will be published when the celebration is scheduled later in 2021.
