Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Violet O. "Mama Vi" Koski, 90, of Bessemer, passed away on Feb. 1, 2021, at Gogebic Medical Facility in Wakefield.
Violet was born in Bessemer on Nov. 20, 1930, to Mary and Victor Moro.
Vi had a love for life and for everyone that came into it. She was so often found sitting outside her home chatting with anyone who happened to come by. The love she had for her family was unconditional. Vi spent many years as a bartender in Bessemer and loved to sing all of the old country classics. She was also most likely playing her spoons as she sang along. Her homemade banana bread was her favorite gift to share with everyone. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed the music of Marty's Goldenaires.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer F. Koski; her mother and father; her brothers, Peter Moro and Alfred Moro (Dorothy); and her sisters, Yolanda (Tony) Spangoletti, Elizabeth (Dalmo) Dalphonso, Elvira (Jack) Ryan and Francis (Tony) Bogdan.
She is survived by daughters, Marilyn (Bruce) Karow, of Townsend, Wisconsin, and Mary (Marvin) Butler of Sparks, Nevada; grandchildren, Sarah (Jay) Walusiak, Cory Dudra, Jade Lehto and Matthew Butler; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Her family would also like to thank the staff of Gogebic Medical Care Facility, Rachel Ragoni and the staff of UPCAP and a special thank you to Phyllis DeYoung for the years of wonderful care. We were blessed to have all of you in our lives.
No funeral will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be scheduled for summer 2021.
