Patricia 'Patsy' Edna Smith

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Patricia "Patsy" Edna Smith (nee Sullivan), 94, of Hurley, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021.

Born March 22, 1926, in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Rose Sullivan. She was a banker, telephone operator, and a housewife in Chicago until her retirement took her to Mercer, Wisconsin, in 1976. She lived the quiet life in the woods and on the lakes in Wisconsin and Michigan with her family and friends, and there is no doubt she loved every minute of it (she would tell you in her special Patsy way).

Patsy was a devoted mother who enjoyed fishing, cooking, dancing, singing, and living a good life. Patsy was the matriarch of the DragonFly ladies in Mercer. She was always the most beautiful woman in town, her hair was always perfect, and her outfits were the best (do not forget the sunglasses). She loved to say "Hmmmm" and followed up by telling you how she really felt. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Patsy is survived by her sisters, Audrey Guild and Joan (Gerald) Farrer; sister-in-law, Dolores Sullivan; daughter, Gloria (Robert) Hafer, son, Patrick (Kathy) Dattulo, and daughter, Ruth Oszakiewski; daughters-in-law, Susie, Lorie, and Barbara Dattulo; and stepchildren, Bonnie Nelson, Vicky Menagh, and Victor "Butch" (Sue) Smith. She was the best friend and grandmother to her caregiver, Trisha Smith, and was the "adopted mom" to Jerry Martino and Lorraine Newberry. She was a grandmother to 22 and a great-grandmother to 15, and you will all have to guess who her favorite was! She was a devoted aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, and was a friend to everyone she met and will always be remembered for her vivacious spirit and love of life.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Victor Smith and Richard Dattulo; brother, Raymond and sister-in-law, Rose Sullivan; brother, James Sullivan; brother-in-law, Harry "Bud" Guild; sons, Danny and Ricky Dattulo; and son-in-law, Joseph Oszakiewski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood at 11 a.m. with Fr. Binu Joseph as celebrant.

The family has chosen McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home of Ironwood to honor Patsy's legacy of life. You can leave a condolence or a tribute at mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.
