CHEBOYGAN, Mich. — Elyn Marie Kallio, 66, went to be with our Saviour on Monday, Feb. 20, 2021. Elyn was born April 10, 1954, in Wakefield, to Beatrice and Eli Kallio of Paynesville.
Elyn was raised in the country and on the farm. We still laughed about the time she came home from college on spring break and spent the entire time on a tractor seat spreading cow manure.
Elyn graduated from Ewen-Trout Creek High School in 1972 and graduated from Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie in 1976.
After getting her degree she worked for a year in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, with an Americorps office helping migrant workers. After that, she started working for AmeriSure Insurance in Grand Rapids as a file clerk. She then worked up her way to writing all computer programs with three other programmers. After 20 years, she retired and moved to Onaway where she helped run the Cliffs Resort on Black Lake with another employee of AmeriSure who had bought the resort.
She then moved to Cheboygan and worked part time in a convenience store, volunteered at the library and was elected the township treasurer.
Elyn is the second child of four children. The only surviving sibling is her older brother, Lawrence, who lives in Casa Grande, Arizona. She was pre-deceased by her younger sister, her mother, her younger brother and her father.
She will be very sadly missed by all of her friends, aunts, uncle, cousins, and her brother and his family; and mostly by her two nieces, Renee and Jackey; and her friends in Paynesville, Bruce Crossing, Trout Creek and anywhere else her friends maybe.
A memorial service will take place at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan on Wednesday, March 31, at 1 p.m., with family greeting friends one hour prior.
Love you and miss you Elyn.
