Hurley — The Hurley K-12 School has released its spring calendar with events modified for public participation.

Scheduled spring events include traditional but modified graduations and prom, choral and band concerts, scholarship and awards programs, according to Melissa Oja, the middle and high school principal. The success of the fall and spring sports programs provided a model for pandemic safety and allow for more people to attend with the open gym floors not in use for the events, she said.

“All events, with the exception of senior pictures, are technically public events,” Oja said. “The prom will have an outdoor grand march and photo opportunity for parents. The eighth-grade banquet will also have an outdoor photo opportunity for parents.”

The high school and eighth-grade graduations allow for students to invite up to 10 attendees, she said. The kindergarten graduation is currently being planned and Steve Lombardo, elementary school principal, will release that information to parents in the near future.

“We’re still moving forward and trying to make it as traditional as possible for all of our students and families,” Oja said.

The Hurley Junior High Band, the High School Jazz Combo, and Andromeda Galaxy will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 13 in the high school gymnasium. The junior high and high school choirs will perform in concert at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 19 in the high school gym.
