EWEN, Mich. - Leon Matthew Wagner, 61, Ewen, passed on May 11, 2021.
Born May 4, 1960, in Wakefield, Leon spent his entire life in an area he loved, around people he loved. Leon graduated from Bergland Community Schools in 1978, and pursued his various interests. His love for his family and his community, his love for the vast forests of the U.P., and his love for machines, especially muscle cars, lead to Leon starting his own business, Wagner Trucking, hauling logs in his beloved U.P.
One of the most memorable things about Leon was his dimpled smile. It seemed to mean many things all at once, and something a little bit different to everyone - deviously shy, playfully smirking, joyfully loving, teasingly caring.
Leon is survived by his wife, Carla; his children, Justin (Meagan) and Corey (Kristie); his stepchildren, Ean and McKena; his grandchildren, Brooklyn, Aubrey and Adam; his mother, Audrey; his siblings, Mark (Robbin), Joann, Neil (Laura), Irene, Heidi and Gretchen (Bradley); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis; and a sister, Karen.
Leon's remains have been cremated. A celebration of his life memorial service will be held Saturday, May 15, at 2 p.m. EDT, at the Centennial Hall in Ewen. Pastor Charles Jousma will be officiating. Masks will be required and social distancing will be practiced.
