It was in Waukegan where she met and married her husband. They would have celebrated 66 years of marriage on June 25.
Shirley had a deep faith in her Savior, Jesus, an uncompromising faith in the word of God, and she read her Bible through from cover to cover every year. She went to her rest in the hope expressed by 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, which declares "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words."
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday, June 6, at Christ Community Church of Seventh-day Adventists, 507 E. Cinnabar St., in Bessemer. Inurnment will be in the Wakefield Cemetery with her parents.
Her family thanks Regional Hospice, Jerald Rocco of Lakeside Memorial Chapel, and Dr. James Rocco for their kind and sensitive assistance.
