PARK FALLS, Wis. - Frances R. Hannula, 99, of Hurley, passed away on Sept. 21, 2020, at The Waterford in Park Falls.
Frances was born on Aug. 19, 1921, in Rhinelander, daughter of Edward and Anna (Antes) Skaja. She attended Oma Grade School and Lincoln High School in Hurley.
She married Emil Hannula on Dec. 30, 1939, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley.
Frances worked as a sales clerk at Paul's Store in Hurley for 14 years and at the Ben Franklin Store in Hurley and Ironwood for nine years retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley and was president of the Catholic Women's Council for two years. She enjoyed knitting and baking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Anna Skaja; husband, Emil; daughter-in-law, Diane Hannula; brothers, George and Kenneth Skaja; sister, Marianne Balduc; brother-in-law, Robert Balduc; and sister-in-law, Eva Skaja.
Frances is survived by sons, Conrad (Jacky) Hannula of Menomonee Falls and Daniel Hannula of Hayward; grandchildren, Ann-Marie (Andrew) Gliszinski of West Bend, and Dori (David) Marty and Derek (JoAnne) Hannula, both of New Richmond; and five great-grandchildren.
Rite of Committal and interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hurley for immediate family only on Monday, June 21, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Frank Kordek officiating.
