MINNEAPOLIS — Marlys Jean (nee Edwards) Ahlstrand passed away in Minneapolis on Aug. 7, 2021, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Marlys was born July 15, 1948, in Ironwood, Michigan. She was a daughter of Charles and Emily (nee Olkonen) Edwards.
Marlys grew up in Ironwood and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1966. She went on to graduate from Gogebic Community College and Michigan State University.
She lived in Minneapolis for more than 50 years. In that time she was a buyer for Donaldson’s and Dayton’s department stores. She then went into real estate. That was her passion until she retired.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Ahlstrand, of Minneapolis; her sister, Charlene Lintonen, of Ashland, Wisconsin; her niece, Cheryl (Jeff) Schultz, of Park Falls, Wisconsin; nephew, Brian Lintonen, of Ashland; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Emily Edwards; and brother-in-law, Robert Lintonen.
