Frederic D. 'Fred' Kellerman

HURLEY, Wis. — Frederic D. “Fred” Kellerman, 79, of Hurley, passed away on Aug. 24, 2021, at his home in Hurley.

He was born in Milwaukee on March 28, 1942, son of Elmer and Alma (Gerlach) Kellerman. He attended Hurley schools and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in 1961. He was very fond of running track, playing football as well as playing in the high school band.

After graduation, from 1962 to 1965 he worked as a telephone lineman in San Jose, California. He also worked at the Manitowish Waters Telephone Company in Manitowish Waters, Webster Electric in Racine, and Krause Milling in Milwaukee. He was a proud member of the U.S. Army Reserve. He spent many years selling monuments in the Hurley area.

Frederic was an avid outdoorsman enjoying exploring, as well as hunting and fishing. The family has fond memories of fireside chats at the cabin with their big brother. He built forts as a young child. He was a member of the Senior Ironwood Drum and Bugle Corps.

Frederic is survived by brothers, Glenn (Dana) Kellerman of Manitowish Waters, and Marvin Kellerman of Kenosha; sisters, Marlene Kreuger of Tampa, Florida, and Charlotte (Henry) Lange of Rolling Prairie; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Kellerman; and a brother-in-law, Donald Kreuger.

A funeral service will be held at McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home of Ironwood on Friday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m., preceded by a visitation starting at 10 a.m.

Interment will be in Mercer Cemetery at a future date.
