IRONWOOD, Mich. — Michael Wayne Wesa, 63, of Ironwood, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, at home in Ironwood.
Michael was born April 20, 1958, in Milwaukee to George R. Wesa and Verna L. Gormley. He graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood in 1976, and served in the U.S. Army from August 1977 to September 1980.
He owned his own business - Mike Wesa Construction - for many years until the time of his death.
Mike loved sports. He wrestled in high school, was a baseball coach and was a sponsor of the Ironwood Little League. He volunteered for many projects at the Little League field.
He loved fishing, especially with his brother and father. He was a kind, humble man who was generous, loving and caring. He will be forever loved and greatly missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother, Verna L. Wesa; a son, Larry "Benji" Wesa; niece, Sandra Wesa; and nephew, Joshua Wesa.
He is survived by his father, George (Patrice) Wesa; granddaughter, Hannah Rose; sisters, Christine Trolla and Keith, Rita Wesa and Leon, and Rose Wesa and Robert; a brother, Mark (Laurie) Wesa; nieces, Jennifer Krznarich, Holly Mattson and Sarah Strickler; nephews, Nathan Baross and Ryan Baross; great-nieces, Hailey, Kayley, Emily and Katelyn; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and many, many friends who were his extended family.
There will be a family graveside service on Friday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m., at Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.
Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield, is assisting the family with their arrangements.
