WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Raymond Joseph Baker, 71 of Wakefield passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield.
Raymond was born June 23, 1950, to Ina and Delore Baker and was the youngest of 11 siblings. Raymond was proud to be a reliable American dairy farmer. He was a member of the Michigan Milk Producers Association and the National Farmers Organization. He loved to share his knowledge of agriculture and helped many 4-H youth with their gardening and farming interests.
Raymond also spent many years working at Indianhead Mountain, as well as Blackjack Ski Resort. Raymond loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Raymond is survived by his brother Donald (Jean) Kenosha, Wisconsin, and John (Sandra) Cedartown, Georgia; sister-in-law, Kathleen Baker, Kimball, Wisconsin, and Donald George, Rogers, Minnesota, as well as multiple generations of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ina and Delore; siblings and in-laws Gladys (Leroy) Jacquart, Gordon (Marilyn) Baker, Geraldine (Sylvester) Walcheske, Richard Baker, Roger Baker, James (Audrey) Baker, Delores George and Robert Baker, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, at Lakeside Memorial Chapel in Wakefield, followed by a celebration of life luncheon at Sharon's Coffee Company in Hurley, Wisconsin, that will be open for all to attend starting at 1 p.m.
