Susan Marie Abelson

TOWN OF OMA, Wis. - Susan Marie Abelson, 69, a longtime resident of Oma, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021.

Susan was born on Nov. 14, 1951, in Bessemer Township, Michigan, a daughter of Eugene J. and Arlene M. (Yurich) Abelson. She attended Oma Grade School, Cary School and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in 1969.

Susan worked at Look Up Workshop later named Highline Corporation for just shy of 48 years. She retired in May 2018.

Susan loved her family, Cornerstone family, her smear league friends and her class of 1969 reunion planning friends. She was generous and kind, known for her infectious smile and joyful heart, usually with yarn and knitting needles close by. Her many four-footed fur babies were surely excited to greet her at the Rainbow Bridge.

Susan is survived by her mother, Arlene Abelson, Oma; four sisters, Diane (Kelly) Klein, Oma, Jean Ann (John) Stephens, Naperville, Illinois, Jo Ann (Rick) Markham, Winchester, and Roxane Pettit, Spooner; and a brother, Michael Abelson, Las Animas, Colorado. Susan was an adored aunt to her 15 nieces and nephews, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, sister-in-law and cousin; and a precious friend to many.

She was predeceased by her father, Eugene "Popeye;" and a brother, David Abelson.

Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at the Cornerstone Church, N10344 Mill St., in Ramsay, Michigan. The Revs. Todd Winkler and Roy Speck will officiate.

A committal service and interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hurley.

A reception in celebration of Susan's life will be held at Sharon's Coffee Company in Hurley upon return from the cemetery.

"Well done, good and faithful servant!" Matthew 25:21
