Ross Solberg takes the oath to become the new sheriff of Gogebic County from County Clerk and Register of Deeds Ramona Collins, left, Tuesday morning in Bessemer. Solberg replaces Pete Matonich, who is retiring after 23 years with the department, the last 12 as a sheriff. Solberg's appointment is through the election this November, according to Collins, when voters will select someone to fill the remainder of the current four-year term ending in 2024.
