Janet Abel Johnson

IRONWOOD, Mich. — Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Janet Abel Johnson passed away on Jan. 11, 2022, in Ironwood. She was 83 years young.

Janet was born to Leo Abel and Ruby Abel on a rural farm in Montevideo, Minnesota, on Aug. 1, 1938.

She loved to take care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and tend her lawn in Rapid City, South Dakota. She also loved her Vikings and Twins, and watching them on television. She also loved watching NASCAR. Due to health concerns, she moved to Ironwood to live with her granddaughter.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be deeply missed.

Janet passed away peacefully with her children, Roxanne Skowronek of Ironwood, and Trudi Pitcher of Wyoming; as well as her grandchildren, Terri Feezor of Ironwood and Teresa Watkins of Ironwood, by her side.

The family extends a special thank you to Terri for her compassion and love and care for her grandmother.
