Douglas Gene Brady

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Douglas Gene Brady, 54, of Wakefield, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, due to COVID-19, at U.P. Health System-Marquette, with his loving children at his side.

Douglas "Doug" was born on Dec. 14, 1966, at the Divine Infant Hospital in Wakefield, to Ida (Oinas) and Forrest Brady Sr. He graduated from Ewen-Trout Creek High School in 1986.

On Oct. 22, 1987, Doug married the love of his life, Kathie Sabec, in Bessemer. They bought a house in Bruce Crossing, and later relocated to Wakefield, to be closer to Kathie's mother.

Doug previously worked at Nagel Lumber Mill, Upper Lakes Coal, Smily's Excavating, Tervita and Corullo Forest Products and was currently employed at the Gogebic County Road Commission.

Doug enjoyed working in his garage either on wood projects or just fixing things. He loved to spend time with his family and frequently would pop by just to say hello. He enjoyed spending time outdoors camping at Bond Falls, where he met his wife. Doug was well known for his amazing bear hugs, enormous heart, infectious laughter and his huge smile. He was happiest just being around the people he loved, he was always there when you needed him, and will be dearly missed by many.

At the time of Douglas' passing, he was survived by his loving wife, Kathie; his children, Douglas M. Brady, Ironwood, Anthony (Liberty) Brady, Bessemer, Angel (Andrew) Harvey, Wakefield, and Nessa Brady, Ironwood; along with numerous children who Doug and Kathie took under their wings; his siblings, Linda Esterline, Bruce Crossing, Lilly (Laverne) Buzzo, Felch, Jennifer (Thomas) Maki, Bruce Crossing, Lucille (Maurice) Shively, Watersmeet, Forrest (Carol) Brady, Ironwood, Gale (Curt) Sexton, Iron Mountain, Rose (Mark) Bruce, Shell Lake, Wisconsin, Stella (Rockland) Belongie, Ewen, Patrick (Autumn) Brady, Ironwood, Gregory (Diane) Brady, David (Evelyn) Brady and Samuel (Amanda) Brady, all of Bruce Crossing, and Shera (Matthew) Siewicki, White Lake; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
