WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Kathie Jo Brady, 51, of Wakefield, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, due to COVID-19, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center, in Duluth, Minnesota, with her loving children at her side.
Kathie was born on March 18, 1970, in Bessemer Township, to Dorothy (Brownell) and Donald Sabec. She graduated from Wakefield High School in 1988.
On Oct. 22, 1987, Kathie married the love of her life, Douglas G. Brady, in Bessemer. They bought a house in Bruce Crossing, and later relocated to Wakefield, to be closer to her mother.
Kathie previously worked at Indianhead Mountain and Lac Vieux Desert Resort and Casino in Watersmeet, and she was currently a homemaker.
She enjoyed writing poems and stories, playing games like Animal Crossing on her switch and coloring while drinking her daily pot of coffee. She enjoyed camping during the summer at Bond Falls, and most of all spending time with her family. She was always there anytime you needed to talk and loved to get together for morning coffee dates with her kids. She will be dearly missed by many.
Kathie is survived by her children, Douglas M. Brady, Ironwood, Anthony (Liberty) Brady, Bessemer, Angel (Andrew) Harvey, Wakefield, and Nessa Brady, Ironwood; along with numerous children who Kathie and Doug took under their wings; her sibling, Carol Sabec, Ironwood, Bonnie Sabec, Bessemer, and Theresa Rosendahl; and grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kathie was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Douglas, on Dec. 13, 2021; a sister, Brenda Sabec; a brother, Donald Ray Sabec; her brother-in-law, Norman Maki; a nephew, Devin Suomumaki; her grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles.
A celebration of Kathie and Douglas' life will be held at Bond Falls at a later date.
