Ironwood - Ironwood is celebrating the first Friday of the month with the theme of "love your neighbor." There will be a vendor fair, a film screening at the Historic Ironwood Theatre and a collaborative pride fashion show from 5-6 p.m. at Time Again Studios in downtown Ironwood.
"Guests are asked to wear their best, in fashion and in solidarity, for what it means to love all and exclude none!" according to the event Facebook page. "The show starts at 5 p.m. sharp and highlights an array of local talents and Superior Holistic textiles. Featured outfits and accessories will be available during and after the show!"
Financial donations will be accepted at the fashion show for the second annual Pride UP festival, which is scheduled to be held from June 10-12 in Ironwood. Checks should be made payable to the Ironwood Area Chamber of Commerce on 150 North Lowell St. in Ironwood. The fashion show will also honor February as Black History Month and Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.
As with most First Friday celebrations in the winter months, there will also be local vendors selling their wares from 4-7 p.m. at Cold Iron Brewing and Incredible Bank in downtown Ironwood. At the same times, there will be a free paper basket make-and-take sponsored by the Downtown Art Place and a rainbow valentine's photo booth sponsored by DOVE Inc. at Incredible Bank.
There will also be a complimentary wine and tea tasting event from 4-7 p.m. at Northwind Natural Foods Co-op.
This month's First Friday movie at the HIT will be the 2016 film "Eddie the Eagle" starring Taron Egerton as Michael Edwards, who became the first Olympic ski jumper to represent Great Britain since 1928 at the 1988 winter games. The movie starts at 7:30 p.m. Admission is by donation to the theater. This event is sponsored by Copper Peak.
The ice-skating rink in the Downtown Ironwood City Square was prepared by volunteers on Monday and will be open in the evening on First Friday.
