MERCER, Wis. - Carl Walter "Farmer" Grulkowski, 92, of Mercer, passed away on March 5, 2022, at his home in Mercer.
Carl was born Nov. 4, 1929, in Stevens Point, the son of Joseph and Maria (Herek) Grulkowski. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict.
He married Rosemary Stima on June 27, 1953, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2011.
He was a hobby farmer but was also employed in construction at Tri-State Homes.
He was an avid reader and loved to play online games including solitaire, hearts and Farmtown. He enjoyed time with his grandkids and time at Johnny's Bar and Grill in Mercer. He was a farmer at heart.
Carl is survived by his children, Catherine (Keith) Imhoff of De Pere, Bonnie (Henry) Stegall of Chicago, Jerome Grulkowski of Coleman, Jeanette (Jeff) Bandura of Crown Point, Indiana, Dennis (Rose) Grulkowski of Grafton, Jacqueline (Steve) Mkrtschjan of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, and Phyllis (Alan) Claypool of Norridge, Illinois; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosemary; daughters, Terrie Farrington and Debra Eschner; and brothers, Hubert, William and Robert Grulkowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 11, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer at 11 a.m. with Fr. Maria Joseph Kodiganti as celebrant, preceded by a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
