HURLEY, Wis. — Nancy Jean “Beanie” Schwab, 64, of Hurley passed away peacefully on March 8, 2022, with her family by her side.
Nancy was born, on Sept. 5, 1957, in Ironwood, Michigan, to the late John and Violet (Hoglund) Colassaco. She attended and graduated from the Ironwood Area Schools.
For many years Nancy worked as an at-home health caretaker. She cared for everyone with a very compassionate heart of pure gold. Nancy adored her dogs, Lulu, Lucy, Ned, Honey-O and Sunshine. She enjoyed hunting with her son and camping with her family. Nancy would spend hours watching the wildlife that would come into her yard every day.
She loved to cook and was known for her filled pizza. She also enjoyed playing cards and poker with her family and friends. Nancy was a devoted wife and mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and a member of Our lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. She fought a courageous battle with her terminal illness for many years. Her angels guided her peacefully to Heaven’s gates and is now home with her Lord and savior, watching over those she touched.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Tim Schwab; son, Brandon (Heather) Colassaco; daughter, Kristin (Patrick) Jones; stepchildren, Mike and Arlene Schwab; special grandchildren, Andrew Krone, Thomas Colassaco, Lexi Littlefield, Gina Weber, Samantha Weber, Marie Bryant, Cameron Schwab, Caela Schwab and Darion Brownell; brothers, Ken (Char) Colassaco and Tim Colassaco; sister, Paulette (Derek) Raisanen; half-siblings, Ken (Kim) Paris and Doris Hoglund; and sisters-in-law, Sharon Colassaco, Fran Colassaco and Christine Hoglund.
Nancy was preceded in passing by her parents, John and Violet; her mother- and father-in-law, Frank and Anne Schwab; brothers, Charles Colassaco, Michael Colassaco and Clifford “Teco” Hoglund; and sisters, Patricia Colassaco and Kathleen Tiffany.
A memorial service will be held at McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home in Ironwood on Friday, March 18, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Hill officiating, preceded by a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
