Heather Elaine Steckling

BESSEMER, Mich. - Heather Elaine Steckling, 50, of Bessemer, on Saturday, March 19, 2022, was called to rest from her earthly labors.

Heather Elaine (Gribbins) Steckling was born on July 2, 1971, a daughter of Richard and Debra (Dykema) Gribbins. She was adopted as a child of God through holy baptism on Nov. 21, 1971.

She graduated from Marinette High School in Marinette, Wisconsin (1989), and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from North Central College of Naperville, Illinois (1993).

Heather was joined together in holy matrimony to Rev. Timothy Steckling, on July 20, 1996. Together, they were blessed with six children, whom they homeschooled. Heather was a model of courtesy and kindness to them all.

Heather had an active church life. She loved to hear God's Word, and to offer her beautiful voice in singing His praises. She brought a touch of joy and beauty to everything she did. She managed her household well, with a gentle and sweet efficiency, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.'" (Proverbs 31:28-29)

On March 19, 2022, God called Heather home to rest in the arms of Jesus, there to await the Resurrection. "The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord." (Job 1:21)

Heather is survived by her husband, Tim; their children, Hannah (Allan) Eskel, Isaiah, Rebekah, Sarah, Elijah and Leah Steckling; her parents, Richard Gribbins and Debra (Roger) Gassman; her siblings, Neil (Sarah) Gribbins and Sarah (Brian) Giannone; her in-laws, the Rev. Larry and Mary Steckling; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 23, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 9:30 a.m., at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, E8223 Sanders Road, Bessemer Township, with the Rev. Steve Hyvonen officiating.

Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield, is assisting the family with their arrangements.
